Pennard Community First Responders

Minutes of meeting, held January 17th, 2005 at Pennard School

Unable to be Present: Bill Flew, Margaret Smith

Welcomed new members, Eleanor Carosi, Nina Reynolds and Eric Bowen.

The Handover procedure was discussed, as it has caused some confusion in the past.

A reminder was mentioned by Dem Carosi about patient confidentiality. Andrew Vaughan had sent a letter in this regard.

We went over the calls since our last meeting and read out a letter of commendation from A.V. regarding the horseless rider incident.

We thanked Jeremy Collins for arranging our fleece tops and had a commitment from Eric Bowen that through a friend, he would provide us with our own tabards.

We discussed raising our profile. D.C. mentioned that he is due to give a presentation to the Bishopston council at the end of the month and that he is booked to do so with the Parkmill W.I. in September. Helen Langford suggested getting hold of all the groups that operate in the area from Brian Smith and try to contact them all. D.C. mentioned that all of us can have a share in making presentations to these groups and agreed to get a list.

As regards the area we feel it is practical to cover, as requested by A.V. We agreed that it would be as follows;

SOUTHGATE, PENNARD, PARKMILL, LUNNON, KITTLE, BISHOPSTON, MURTON.

It was mentioned that we have already been sent to these places.

Present at the meeting was Adrian Hughes O.B.E. from the fire service in Reynoldston. He is also a first responder and could sympathize with us due to the lack of calls we have had recently. He enlightened us in regard to the procedure in "Control" and encouraged us to stick with it, because we are providing a needed service to our community. He also mentioned that as a Heart Start organizer, he wants to present a two hour c.p.r. session in our area at some time, and wants us to think about organizing such.

We did not have time to go through the kit and consider Oro-pharyngeal air ways as intended.

Date for next training was set for March 14th, 7p.m. at Reynoldston fire station, together with the fire service training. (This still needs to be verified with AV).
