| Angina Pectoris is the narrowing of the heart's own blood
supply vessels, normally caused by stress, alcohol or exercise. |

Signs & Symptoms
|
- Gripping central chest pain, spreading often to the
jaw and down the left arm
- Shortness of breath
- Weakness, often sudden and extreme
- Feeling of anxiety

Treatment |

Get the patient to sit down. Make him comfortable and
reassure him
- If he has medicine for angina (tablets or a 'puffer') let
him administer it himself. Help if necessary

Give oxygen therapy (100% mask @ 15 litres per minute)
- Encourage rest. The attack should ease within
minutes
