This my personal rogues gallery - pictures of friends and a few other bits and pieces.
Actually, I've only included pictures with friends which are good photos (IMHO)
rather than to prove that I have (a lot?) of friends!
This is one of my favorites and
Lilli will hate me for putting it up, however, I think her sister also has this on her web
page, so I'm reasonably safe (I hope!).
It was taken on a wildlife trip to the island in lake Chilwa near Zomba.
This one of Louise (left!!) was taken on Zomba
plateau by the side of the Mlunguzi river. It obviously deserves a caption,
something like "Louise fails to get the hang of carrying a tree on her head!" -
which may need some explaination. Until I can get a photo of one of the Malawian's who
carry tree logs (like big logs) down from the Zomba plateau, this one of a woman carrying
a bundle of wood down from Chiradzulu mountain will have to give you an idea of which way
the tree is supposed to go.
Was going to explain how Louise was carrying the tree, but I won't except to add that
there really is another 30 or 40ft or tree above the top of the picture!
 Now
for stuff fans... Some pictures of my car - a Mahindra Classic. Both of these
were taken by a huge Boabab tree near Kapichiri Falls. This car is an Indian copy of
a 1956 civilian jeep. The original features - like the chassis are well built the
Indian add ons rather less so. The engine is a Peugoet 2.1 diesel and the
vehicles off road performance is pretty good - been stuck twice in two and half years and
it's been through some pretty bad terain. Comfortable it ain't - weighs probably
half as much as a hilux, but seems to have the same springs - hard! This pictures
feature the car in summer plumage - with the small "top" providing shade to the
driver and front passenger. My favorite mode (topless) is great, but you can get
well roasted by the sun. In winter it has a full roof with doors, but no heating!
