Web Access is the same mechanism as Microsoft "Hotmail" system and a number of other free e-mail system use.  Those systems are free because you get advertising plastered all around your mail.  The Plateau's web access doesn't have that problem since it is essentially private.  The great gain is that on the Plateau it works in conjunction with POP3 (and IMAP4?), so while away from your computer, you can pop into you local "Internet Cafe" and check your e-mail.  The catch is you have to be connected to the Internet all the time you're reading and typing your messages, so it costs money (assuming you're paying of course!).  With the Web Access system on The Plateau you can also modify your own details including your password, see the "Good Passwords" page for more information.  You can change other bits and pieces, but most of this information is not currently used.

HINT:  To save money when using Web Access, save your messages in temporary text files to read later (when not connected) and compose replies and new messages in a text editor or word-processor and then use cut and paste when sending them out.
